A Most Excellent Update

14h, 8 year old, bay pony gelding. The FLO picked this horse up from an Indian Reservation and was told that he was wild. The FLO owner decided to hold him back for now, so he halter broke him. This guy is a little resistant to having the halter put on but once it is on, he walked calmly and obediently behind him.

A Most Excellent Update

Great news from Sanka and Connor's new people today!!!

Sanka is a much loved member of her new barn, entrusted with the children just learning and adult beginner students. Joanna reports that all love her and are learning confidence and skills with her gentle way of going. She says she can place as many "Sankas" as I can find. Unfortunately/fortunately that is a tall order! She is a once in a lifetime find and I am ecstatic that she has ended up in such a wonderful caring home.

Connor is a SUPERSTAR!!!! They say that he is already jumping uprights and oxers with ease  and is in high demand by the students. Who would think that he was on the scale in a feedlot a mere 6 months ago?!?!? He is thriving on the show barn atmosphere and his new owners continue to be amazed at his gentle spirit and amazing jumping ability daily. They said his little knees are tight as ticks over jumps!!!!! They promised they will give us lots of notice so that we can line the stands at his first show!

I cannot imagine a better placement for these two!

Yet more proof that slaughter is NOT "a humane alternative for old and unsound horses"!!!!!!!!!

That is the best news I have heard all week! Whoever dumped those two horses really had NO idea what they had. So glad that you guys were able to evaluate them and get them new homes. :D

You know, I have to say that I found Connor equally amazing to work with. He's just got a great little attitude, lovely manners, and there isn't a mean bone in his body. He dealt with so much craziness at NWEEC...I mean, I rode him in an overcrowded warm-up ring all the time with gaming horses and god knows what else running up his butt and he was fine. Horses like Connor really do not come along often. The best part is, as I pointed out to the buyers, he wasn't broke til he was 8 so he's going to stay sound forever!

I am so glad he got a show home. I know he is going to love, love, love his life and competition and that many carrots are in his future!

Sanka is a total babysitter who was great for the tiniest kids at our barn. I knew she was going to be equally happy with the lesson life.

What a wonderful happy ending for these two!

I emailed Joanna, Connor's new owner, last night to ask if I could stop by and see him sometime. She replied immediately and said "Of course" and then forwarded some pictures from a show he attended last weekend (and got Reserve Champion!).

Thank you for the email. Yes - of course you are totally welcome to stop by and see him. I teach a lot, so just let me know a day or so in advance so I can make sure I'm available. But he would love to see you, I'm sure. :) He's doing awesome. It was sort of last minute, but he did end up going to a small local show last weekend and won reserve champ of his division with one of my girls! That was exciting. He's a great pony - we love him! I'll forward you some pics!

Isn't he the cutest thing EVER??? Good job finding him the most perfect home, Chelsea & Cat!

Oh he looks so great!!!!

I am so excited for him. He really did get the best home ever. He looks perfect with a little kid on his back. Isn't it amazing that he was an unbroke, unhandled stallion a year ago?

Hey, that's his second Reserve Champion...first our schooling show and now this one!
