Connor meets the farrier!

14h, 8 year old, bay pony gelding. The FLO picked this horse up from an Indian Reservation and was told that he was wild. The FLO owner decided to hold him back for now, so he halter broke him. This guy is a little resistant to having the halter put on but once it is on, he walked calmly and obediently behind him.

Connor got his first trim today with my farrier, Dan. Everything about Connor's actions told me that he is a 'been there, done that' kinda guy. He had no problems standing for his trim, other than some normal testy behavior - though he was never naughty. Just wanted to know if he would be made to behave.

I was very pleased with how well Connor acted today! And so was Dan, who was wiped out after trimming 6 of my horses today! He sure is priceless!!!

Connor was WAY overdue for a trim, but is now all caught up. He met with my new farrier, Margo Hill, tonight and is now all pedicured! :) He was good as he stood in the cross ties, though tested Margo a few times. Gotta love his stubborn pony streak!

I was very pleased with Margo's skills and liked the fact that she adjusted her behavior and body language based on the horse she was working with :) I look forward to having her trim my other horses as well! :)

I've had both men and women trimmers, and I honestly click better with a woman trimmer. I am currently using a woman trimmer, and she is fabulous! She is open to suggestions and we talk it thru... (I've researched trimming, and started doing it myself) Sometimes my male farriers would get they're egos smashed if I started asking questions and making suggestions.

Anyways, way to go Connor!! He is adorable!! Can't wait to hear how you guys do at the show!
