Gaining his weight back!

14h, 8 year old, bay pony gelding. The FLO picked this horse up from an Indian Reservation and was told that he was wild. The FLO owner decided to hold him back for now, so he halter broke him. This guy is a little resistant to having the halter put on but once it is on, he walked calmly and obediently behind him.

Gaining his weight back!

Connor's gelding surgery certainly took it's toll on his small frame. He lost quite a bit of weight (well, in my opinion) the week following his appointment. I immediately up'd his hay intake to 2-3 heavy flakes of high quality orchard grass morning and night. I wasn't seeing as big of an improvement as I'd hoped, but it looks like he's finally back up to weight.

Now, if the weather would clear and dry things out, I could put him to work and turn that weight into muscle! He sure is an awesome pony! He's quite the forager when he eats too!

He looks like a really nice, well bred Welsh pony, wavy tail and all. Go figure.
