Keep your fingers(and toes) crossed

14h, 8 year old, bay pony gelding. The FLO picked this horse up from an Indian Reservation and was told that he was wild. The FLO owner decided to hold him back for now, so he halter broke him. This guy is a little resistant to having the halter put on but once it is on, he walked calmly and obediently behind him.

i am hoping that Andrea will fall in love with the Con-man when she visits he and Juli this weekend! She is EXACTLY what I would wish for him in a home which is an adult owner that wants to do jumping and trails! He is such a good little guy and tries so hard no matter what we do to him and she sounds just perfect- I will be waiting anxiously to hear from Andrea and Juliane after they meet!

He's adorable! How could anyone not fall in love with him??? I hope he falls in love with her, too.

Andrea came by today and spent a couple of hours with Connor and I. She is exactly the type of person he needs right now. She is very quiet and soft spoken, giving Connor plenty of confidence and reassurance, while bring firm, consistent and persistant in her requests, which kept him in check.

I felt bad at first, as when discussing with Chelsea how best to prepare Connor for today's 'interview', she had suggested I ride Connor each day, for a few days before Andrea came out. My intentions were good, but there was simply no way for me to fit that into my schedule. However, it appeared that we had nothing to worry about - even though it had been 3 weeks since Connor had been worked with.

We pulled Connor out, put him in the cross ties and then Andrea brushed him down, paying special attention to his itchy spots. Then we saddled him up. Since my round pen still has a few rails down, it's not quite useable yet. So, she led him around for a bit while I got my ride, Dandy, saddled up. Once I was ready, I helped her mount and then adjusted her stirrups. Then I mounted up and off we went.

Connor was a perfect gentleman, as we meandered through the trails right off my backyard. They weren't very groomed in places, causing some creative ways of getting through the brush and trees. It also had started raining as soon as we saddled up, so we were all getting wet too :P (Which is also why I didn't get many pictures!)

The water in the river had risen quite a bit, making it practically impossible to get through the 'creek' to get to the river. So, we cut our trail ride short and decided to ride on my street a bit. This was a good experience for everyone - I was able to see how Andrea handled Connor when he balked at going onto the busy street with cars passing by, and she was able to get a feel for his personality.

To me, it really seems like a great match. Connor really seemed to like her alot, and she seemed to like him! Hopefully they will have a future together!

Thanks for coming out to meet the Connor-Man, Andrea! :) It was great to meet you!

Well, we want him in the perfect forever home for him. Maybe it is still out there.
