Connor does not like the letter K

We have an ODS dressage show here this weekend, so I decided to ride Connor in the dressage ring they set up tonight. I figured it'd be a great opportunity to practice going on straight lines, diagonals, etc. with "targets" to aim for.

Connor did not think so. He was deathly afraid of the dressage letters on pylons, particularly the letter "K." Apparently the letter K eats ponies alive. We did, however, learn that Connor can do a remarkably talented approximation of a half pass. :)

I made him deal with it for about 20 minutes and then we went into his comfort zone, AKA the warm up ring, to canter. He was very happy about that. He loooves the warm up ring. We started to work on cantering smaller circles today. He has a great canter, forward and smooth, but next he needs to learn to balance himself and slow it down. Still, as-is it's probably one of the top 3 smoothest canters I've ever ridden in all of these years. I think all the time how much FUN he would be x-country for someone. That canter would just eat up ground and he's so smooth, you'd feel like you were flying!

Oh Cat how cool! I am soooo happy that he is with you and getting to be suck a fun little guy! I am hoping someone that wants to do cross country ends up with him! Do you think that the same people that are interested in Sanka might have a student who would want him?

I love your updates Cat! Connor seems like such a sweet, fun pony. I think he will be a perfect first guy for many a pony-crazy girl!
