An update on Mi Amigo

I contacted Elaine last week to see how Mi Amigo was doing and got this reponse:

Hi Juliane,

Amigo is doing OK, but still offish with me except when I feed his grain. Herd dynamics changed for him when he returned. Regala had been with him all of his life and he had been number 3 in pecking order. She was gone when he came back and most of the time now, both Shalizar and Shiraca treat him like an outsider. Still not placed. Shalizar is really sweet with Shiraca now, she was very low man on the totem before Regala left, so is acting like a princess now with brother treating her so well.
My hands have made it difficult to do much of anything. I have psoriasis on both hands and most of the time they are full of splits and open, raw places, so even petting or scratching them is out most of the time. I had it a little before my daughter's death, but it got bad after and just won't clear up. Some days it gets a little better and then there it goes again.
Shalizar is here untill this summer. Also, we have had some things come up that have made us decide to move to Eastern Washington this summer
Jamie and some others are coming out next Saturday to trim him and maybe Shiraca. Do you want me to give the blanket and halter to them or do you prefer it shipped? Let me know and I'll do whichever one you prefer. It really helped Amigo during the cold weather. Thank you very, very much.
Sincerely,
Elaine

If anyone is looking for a gentle, gorgeous pasture pet, please contact Jaime at SAFE about adopting him! He is free on adoption gift contract. :)

MiAmigo got his shots, worming and hooves trimmed today. He did fairly well. Some bad moments when Shiraca decided to spook at the camera.
Jamie will probably update you, Juliane, on how it went. He stood quietly outside of the pasture on lead for a couple of hours as they tried to convince Shiraca to get her hooves done. No go. She was responding some, but needs more work.
Amigo is slowly coming back to me since I separated him from Shalizar and put Shiraca in with him. He is a real sweetheart and I really hope he gets someone who has the time and love to give him what he deserves.

Why is he just a pasture pet?

He has Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Disease (DSLD). His pasterns are dropped and he would not likely hold up to riding.

He is really sweet, and is just a large pony size. He really would be a great companion horse. I can see him being a baby sitter for weanlings.
