Getting his stitches removed...

Postby Juliane on Wed Feb 21, 2007 2:02 pm

The vet just left from removing Buddy's stitches. Poor Buddy wasn't quite in the mood to let someone play with his eye - I'm sure it's ingrained in him that it might hurt. So, the vet had to give him a light sedative in order to removed them.

Along with the stitches, some scabs came off, leaving some healthy pink tissue showing. The vet reassured me that it was not an opening into his eye orbit, but was just granulation tissue. All in all, it looks very good :)

The vet also said there weren't any restrictions on Buddy - that he could be ridden, exercised, turned out, and even introduced to other horses. So, I may ride him later this afternoon. She did feel he could gain another 50 lbs or so, and turn some of it into muscle, but other than that, she thought he looked good :) Yippee!!!

WOW, that is really impressive, it looks great!!! Will the hair eventually grow right over the area? Its nice to see that definition back in his eye area.
