Falling hurts....

Last week I was riding Buddy bareback in the pasture like I do when I either am too tired to open the gate or too lazy. hahaha I had just gotten on him and the next thing I knew I was on the ground. I am not sure exactly what happened. It all happened so fast. I think what happened is he tripped, I fell forward and kicked him in the flank, he jumped up and sideways and off I went. That is the only explanation cause he just stood there and looked at me. There was absolutely no warning. He was looking at me like he was saying hey dummy whatcha doin on the ground!!!
Well, I got up off the ground, walked off the pain a bit, got back on like a good cowgirl  , and rode to the end of the pasture and back. He acted like nothing happened. That's why I think it was my fault  .
A week later my back is still swollen and my ego is bruised, but am regaining my confidence about continuing to ride bareback. I have been spending time just walking out in the pasture- he follows me like a puppy dog-and talking to him. I am too old for this. I prefer to stay on the horse.

We've all had that fall happen...the one where you go "HUH? How did I get on the ground?" and you look up and the horse looks equally baffled.

Nothing wrong with bareback but sometimes it's best kept to the round pen/arena, with softer footing!

No act of compassion is ever wasted, no matter how small.
