Final Week

This stunning 6 year old sorrel 14.1 hand mare was rescued from the feedlot in May 2006. She has been started under saddle and is available for adoption to the perfect home.

Final Week

Sunday: Miss Class had another ride and decided to test the boundaries. Mostly was during our circle work- her questions were like "can i fall in? or can i let my bum trail and fish tail?" and so we worked on that until she was reliably soft again. Did some canter work and went back to circles. and from there i decided to start teaching her a leg yield- and wouldn't ya know, Miss Class picked that up right away- offering a couple steps :) Yay!

Monday: I'm in a terribly grouchy mood after work, and run to the barn to work with Class before I have to back out to a work function. Ohhh the beautiful back ups we're getting from Class-y girl! all ya have to do is think "back" and she pretty much goes- sometimes a bit of reinforcement of a seat aid, but thats it! Lovely. She's also definitely getting down the leg aid too- at one point she started to back crooked, so i quickly used my leg to straighten her out and boom- she does it.

And because i was in no mood to actually ride, i began to teach her the "head down" cue while under saddle- for grins.. After a few tries, she picked up on it. very cute!

What is happening with after this week? I hope she gets adopted really soon. She sounds like she'll make a VERY nice horse for someone. You've done a good job with her Ally!

1 more month!

Class was set to return to Julie's tomorrow, actually...but tonight nmy student very generously donated another month of Class's board so I could put an additional 30 days on her. So she'll be at the barn for another month!

Woo hoo!

The trimmer was out today to do my horses' hooves, so I didnt do anything with Miss Class. Will work tomorrow, though.

Thank you so much, Pam! You rock!

Yep, I was completely humbled and grateful when Ally called this afternoon and suggested Class stay another month. We had talked about this prior, and I agreed that Class should stay, but neither Ally nor I had the extra board funds for Class to stay at Red Barn. So when Ally told me that her lesson student, Pam, offered to pay for another month, I was pleasantly surprised. I think this is really great for Class!

Thank you so much, Pam!!! :)

Thursday: Had a nice ride on Class. Canter departs are getting much better! She's experimenting with speed- she's gaining balance and its definitely showing in the w/t/c work. yesterday I actually had to urge her to keep canter- when i thought she was going to break into trot she actually took the nicest, even canter strides ever for her.

The flexion work is going really well. she's doing well bending and i can successfully ask her to move laterally at the walk and trot (better to the left)...so if we're reaching the end of the long side i'll ask for a bend in the corner, and voila- get a bend! She's cool 8)
