Rowdy's Trim

Postby Juliane on Fri Jun 01, 2007 5:07 pm

Rowdy got his old shoes removed and his hooves trimmed this afternoon. He is moving much freeer, but is still moves awkwardly. I took some video of him in the round pen and will post it later, but at the moment I am getting ready to head out for my drill competition tomorrow!

Here's Rowdy's feet yesterday:

And after the trim today - his back feet are still long, but Margo didn't think she could take off any more without him becoming sore:

His Former Owner About His Feet

Postby Tiara on Sun Jun 03, 2007 10:23 am

Since I have had him every farrier who has touched him has said the EXACT same thing- they ALWAYS leave the back long. I didn't understand this. When the last farrier told me he would like "take off a little more but he would need shoes" I didn't realize that meant he was going to cut a cleft into his hoof! I have never seen that before. They do look good!
