Adopted!

Postby Juliane on Mon Jun 04, 2007 4:06 pm

Rowdy went to his new adoptive home today. I first met Jen, his new owner, back in February when she came out with Becky to meet Sydney. I've stayed in touch with her since then and even gone trail riding with her off her property in Fall City.

Jen expressed interest in Rowdy almost immediately and came out to meet him Sunday morning. I was hopeful that it would work out, as Jen is also a Parelli NH trainer. She has the skills and knowledge to work with Rowdy and get him going solidly under saddle.

I am grateful for owners like Tiara, who were able to acknowledge that they could no longer provide for their horse properly and sought out help for their horse, rather than other owners who abandon or neglect their horses. Thanks for letting me be the liasion in helping Rowdy find his forever home :)

OMG, look how small Dude looks next to Rowdy, that is sooo funny. I am soo excited to see Rowdy with Jen, he will thrive there. I think Rowdy will be the perfect horse for Jen's husband Ron. We are headed down there now to see the new pony in his new environment. :D :D :D

Jen I am going to SMACK you for that!!!!! Anyhow Mark and I went down to see Rowdy tonight. When I got there Jen had asked me to come over and listen to him breath. Seems as though once Rowdy works a bit he has a hard time breathing, it is like a person with asthma and gasping for air. But Jen will get to the bottom of that, along with having him checked out to make sure he will be sound and if any adjustments are needed. :D :D

Rowdy is such a sweet boy, I went in with him to snap some photos and give him some attention. Rowdy was in the round pen so I walked in and right to the middle, I just relaxed and stood there and he just walked right up to me for some attention. After that it was hard to be back enough to get pictures, he would just follow me around like a little puppy. I was able to get a few pics, Mark even came in at one point and I snapped some pics of him with Rowdy. I just can't believe what a total sweetheart this horse is.

I know Jen will post and keep us all updated, but she is not so good at pics, so I will make sure to be there for pics

Here are a few pics that I took.

Awww... I love that pic of Rowdy and Mark :) Too sweet!!!

Ally mentioned that she heard Rowdy gasp in nervousness/anxiousness at one point when she worked with him. I didn't really hear it, though purposely tried to keep him quiet while he was with me since he was tender on his feet.

I am sure Chelsea (seahorse) will have some input since she is working with her gelding, Toad, to fix some breathing/asthma problems he has. Let me know if there is anything I can do!

(And Jen, you do not look like a cow!) :P

Great news for Rowdy! Jen, you look really familiar! Just curious if you have sisters and if so, are their names Tammy and Ronnie? May name is Trish Moore and I used to board out at Mt. Si Stables and that might be where I know you from?!?!

From Rowdy's Former Owner

Postby Tiara on Tue Jun 05, 2007 8:53 pm

This horse LOVES people! I have never had a problem catching him in the pasture, he also loves treats and takes them gently. He has always been a love bug, soaking up attention from anyone around him (including other horses) but has never been what I think of as herd bound. I have always been able to remove him from the herd and work with him.

Also, you can put ANYONE on his back and lead them around, I have had total newbies to 6 year-old on him (bareback and I led them around). He only started to wheeze a little when I moved him to Red Barn, previous to that, I never heard anything like that.

Jen, I hope you are happy with him. He tries hard and has a very big heart. He is also the prettiest bay you will ever lay eyes on! Congrats and please take care of my boy. He will always be in my heart.

Hey Trish, small world. Yes it's me from Mt. Si, very good to hear from you. I hope all is well with you and would love to talk more.

To Rowdy's former owner, thanks for all the information on him. I love any history or stories you have. I would really like to stay in touch with you. I do have to agree that he is the most handsom bay I have ever seen. I hope you know he went to a very loving and caring home and will be well taken care of. My mare isn't to happy about it but she'll get over it. I have somebody coming tomorrow to do body work and testing on him so I will keep you all posted as to what is found out.

If anybody could give me some insight on how to get the little picture next to your name I would really appreciate it. I found one and downsized it to a dot but it was still to big in file size. Now do you see why I frown at updating with all these pictures. I AM NOT SMARTER THAN THE COMPUTER!!! maybe later I can post the smiley like this

I had to have Juliane resize my avatar because when I tried to do it, it was HUGE. So if you can not get it right, just ask her and she will tell you how.
