Born Broke!?!?!!

3 - 4 yr old, 15.2h black and white paint mare that has been rescued off the Yakima feedlot. She is a joint project between Trish and I and will be temporarily staying at my property until she can be moved to Trish's boarding facility.

Born Broke!?!?!!

Wy has come a long way in the last few months and I was feeling like it was time for her to get some quality saddle training. I have been doing mostly groundwork and saddling/bridling exercises with her and is she is now a much more respectful horse on the ground. Her basic personality is easy-going and gentle, not much seems to bother her and she learns quickly. However, there have been times though that she will show a little attitude best described as "pissy" when asking her to do something she's not keen on doing. She doesn't do anything bad and usually gets over it quickly but I wondered if this attitude would show up under saddle...hmmmm. Since I have really become a chicken about riding young ones for the first, second or even third time, (I swear after my son was born, I lost my gutsy riding personality), Juliane agreed to put 30 days on Wy and evaluate her under saddle.

For a long time I have wanted a mellow, easy-going horse that does not "spook at the wind". When Juliane and I rescued Wy, we hoped that she would be that type of horse for me, but if she turned out to be more high-energy, we felt Wy would be easy to re-home.

Juliane's assessment thus far is..... "I am absolutely thrilled with Wy's progress adn believe she's probably the easiest horse I have ever started, except maybe Rory". So based on that and from the pictures below, it looks like Wy is that mellow, easy-going horse I have always wanted:) I could not be happier and am so looking forward to riding her and continuting her training. The first picture is her 5th ride (1st time at the big Fall City arena - CANTERING!!). The rest of the pictures are from the Fall City Playday (6th ride) where they did a few games and then went down to the river. Juliane said that they went even deeper in the water than in the last picture! I guess Wy has no issues with water

Wy will spend some more time with Juliane, going to drill etc.....so that she gets additional exposure to being around more horses. Thanks Juliane for all that you have done for Wy - it has been so great to see her blossom with you!
