A strange lump near her udders?

Postby Juliane on Sat Apr 29, 2006 9:26 pm

Skittles has a weird lump on her stomach, right in front of her udders. It's not terribly hard, nor terribly squishy. It's not hot to the touch, and doesn't seem painful to her. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

I wonder if it might be a small hernia?

Yes, that is what it looks like to me also. As long as it does not get any bigger it should be ok.

last summer my mare had the same thing.

I freaked, called the vet. my mare's was the same type of thing- squishy, but i couldnt push it back in, like a hernia would be able.

Vet said it was not a hernia, looked like edema. It went away in a few weeks.

Also- my mare seems pretty prone to dermatographism- ultra sensitive to her environment/ allergies. she's also very sensitive to girth tightness- and will get lumpy if girthed too tight.

I'd still call a vet- but i just wanted to share that it sounds quite similar!
