Playing with the girls....

This gorgeous black stud was part of the bucking stock string that was at the Yakima Feedlot in December. Will enter training the beginning of May 2006.

Playing with the girls....

On Saturday morning, I decided to let Rory out with Patience, Sydney and Emma. It'd been a month since he was gelded and he seemed pretty lonely. He hadn't had any stud behaviors (other than pooping in one spot to mark his territory) and had ignored Emma, even though she seemed to love putting her butt right in front of his nose.

So, I led him to the pasture and promptly let him loose. He immediately perked up with his new found freedom as he galloped around, prancing with his head and tail held high. Patience, however, was VERY unhappy with this new addition to her herd. She was herd boss, *the* boss mare, and wasn't going to put up with this 'pip squeek' coming in and changing her show!

She immediately tried to put him in his place by racing after him with her ears pinned and teeth bared. Rory spun around and with a few well-placed kicks, Patience was standing there stunned. It wasn't long before Rory was the herd boss!!

The funny part was watching Patience be SO angry about this, but unable to do anything about it. She would watch Rory and the minute he would look in her direction, she would squeel, shake her head and jump up and down, tail swishing voraciously - even if he was 100 feet away!!!

It was really very funny! Rory had a great time checking out his new environment and was a perfect gentleman to the other girls. By the end of the day, Patience and Rory had called a truce, though they still weren't talking :P

Rory is now officially allowed to be in with the herd :)
