How is Rory doing?

This gorgeous black stud was part of the bucking stock string that was at the Yakima Feedlot in December. Will enter training the beginning of May 2006.

How is Rory doing?

I saw that Rory left the care lease and is going to Nickie? Is that right? Just wondering the detail on this guy. He is one of my favorites! :)

I believe Rory is now at Hytyme's Rescue until Nickie can decide whether or not she will have him shipped to the east coast. Hopefully she'll chime in here with an update on his status :)

Hehe, sorry guys for the lack of updates  . He arrived at Jim's on New Years Eve afternoon and has been busy making his presence known. Apparently he started to beat the tar out of one of Jim's oldies so he had to be moved to the "manly" pasture. He is now out with the drafts and ex-studs and is still trying to be the big man  , but Jim said everything has been settling down as of yesterday. My ultimate goal will be to try and get him here, but alas, finances are again the major factor. We'll see. Thanks for asking about him, I will update when I get photos. :D

Anybody headed east this spring or summer? Hey, Nickie, maybe we could do a road trip. I don't have a truck or trailer, but it sounds like a fun vacation doesn't it?

If he needs a place to crash at the half way point he is always welcome here in MN! If it's during the summer months there won't be a charge for board, we've got pleanty of pasture! Winter months would be different, but hay is a lot less here than it is on the west coast. I sure love this guy, and hope he finds a spot to stop for good soon.

Wow, this is a surprise. I thought his care lease was moving towards a forever home.

From what I hear, Jim's place is a great place to be. I really hope rory finds his very own little girl soon.

No, his care lease home did not work out for the long term, but Rory received excellent care and lots of love while there. :D

Ooh Pam! A road trip does sound fun!! We could stop at maefly's and chill for a bit too! Have some girls' days out...riding..and riding. Unfortunately, I don't have a trailer either. :( I keep telling myself that I could have bought one already with all of the money I have paid out for hauling for all of my guys.

tontonsmom, Rory does have his very own little girl.....me. :D I just have to get him here somehow so he can fully appreciate me. (hey, I'm young at heart, and little...depending on how you look at it)

Something will come up; he'll get to you Nickie. Maybe that's why he hasn't found another home. Maybe he's meant to be with you??

Nickie, don't a lot of places rent trailers? I wonder about something like UHaul that you could drive out, pick up there, then return to a rental agent near you? Got a truck? My husband wrecked mine. It's a good thing he washes dishes.

I have been following this thread for months now, and I keep coming back to Rory. I think he would be perfect for my 9 year old daughter who is riding right now at a local barn in Redmond. He reminds me so much of the pony I grew up with, and I just keep thinking he'd be perfect for my daughter, Sophie. Any chance Nickie would consider a care lease first to see if he fit? I just don't know if we can swing the $3500 purchase price. We want to buy her a larger pony to ride and work with, but we were thinking much lower than that. Sophie is a beginning rider, but she lives and breathes horses right now and I grew up riding and board my own horse at the barn she rides at. Rory just keeps on coming back to me, I can't get him out of my mind.

Also, as it turns out, Sophie's trainer (Julie) may be adopting Cassidy in the near future!

I PMed you dubbogod! :D

I sooooo hope I can get him here eventually Pam. I keep praying and crossing my fingers. I have looked around before and have not been able to find any trailers for rent here. I don't know why, but there are none anywhere local. And I don't have a truck. I have access to a Jeep Wrangler, but I don't think that'll cut it. My car is a Mazda MX 6....veeery tiny. :(

Nickie, I do hope you can find a way to get him back to you. Maybe there could be a Pony Express type way to get him back to Maryland. You know pass him from trailer to trailer all the way across the country.

I just hope he can find a home soon. He needs his own person to love and trust. It must be stressful to have moved so many times in the last year.

Is Hytyme coming back that way again soon? If you want, I can go check on him at Jim's place when the weather gets nice (if that ever happens)
I KNOW THERE IS MONEY IN HORSES......I PUT IT THERE!

Well there will be a trailer headed to CO soon with Ashes in it from Yakmia..I am being charged $550 for that. Maybe you could find someone to take him the rest of the way or my shipper might go out there, but I do not know for sure.

Wow, Rory is practically in our backyard. It would be cool if he could come and show in the pony division at our hunter schooling show on the 21st. We are probably all of 15 minutes from Hytyme's.

And trust me, NO ONE rents trailers. I have tried. I only got my 2 horses here from Los Angeles because Juliane rented me hers - she totally helped me out!
