Pregnancy possibility?

19-20 year old 13.1h Paint mare was saved from the Yakima Feedlot in March 2006. Is scared of humans and needs to build confidence, love and trust. Entering training in May 2006.

Pregnancy possibility?

I am sure she's not... She can't be! But compare these pics of when she arrived at the feedlot in March and now. Her bag is fairly big too - not full, just big. I know they had said she'd been used as a broodmare, but hmm....

The vet is coming out on May 25th to geld Rory. I'll have her palpate Emma too and do a preg check. I just have to know!

I'll get a better udder shot tomorrow :)

I don't think she's pregnant, but here's a pic of her udders. I wonder if something is wrong with them? I will have the vet come look at her when they come to geld Rory :)

I had the same issue when I got my mare from the feed lot. She was not preganant but I clean her up and got her on some good feed and they went down in size. She had been a broodmare and the vet thinks it was just she had so many babies.

She may of had a bad case of mastitus some time in the past. I have seen dairy cows with extremely large udders who had suffered with a mastitus infection.
Let us know what the vet says.

While the vet was out today to geld Rory, I had her palpate Emma. The good news is that Emma is NOT pregnant. She also does not have anything wrong with her udders, they are just big due to many previous pregnancies.

Emma does, however, have a cyst on her uterous, which isn't causing her any harm, but caused the vet to have to ultrasound Emma in order to verify it wasn't a possible early pregnancy.
