Pics of todays trail ride

This beautiful 6 year old sorrel mare was rescued from the Yakima Feedlot on 12/13/05. She had a halter that was severely embedded into her jowls, poll and nose.

Well Mark and the girls headed out again this afternoon for another ride. We are so blessed to live in a place where we access trails right out our back gate. The left the house and headed to the pasture when I realized they forgot the camera, so needless to say I put my boots on and ran down, cause I wanted pics.

I have to say I am really missing being able to ride, so I guess I better find myself another horse. So Mark and the girls took 3 different trails today. The first one headed up to a beautiful lookout. It is quite a climb to the top, but the access is a very wide and open trail. So Mark decided to let Patience go, she ran clear to the top. Then they came back down from the lookout and headed down a steep narrow trail that takes to down to Tokul Creek, then turned around and came back up. The last trail was on the way back home and it was just a nice loop through the trees. Anyhow Sydney spooked, bucking Holly off, which then spooked Patience and Billy. Patience bolted and did a little hop and jump, but then calmed right down. So they finished the ride and headed home.

Patience is like a puppy dog with Mark, she is just so calm and attentive and the two of them are absolutely great together. Here are a few pics. They are not all that great since it was a bit dark in the trees.

You should see the 2 of them together, it is so funny. Patience just melts in Mark's arms and he just smiles from ear to ear. She has come such a long ways with him, and their bond is just awesome.

Yes her socks stay pretty white, I am thankful that the ponies are actually staying some what clean this year. Patience is the neatest of the 3. Billy and Syd a quite pigs......

The one thing that just impresses me, and I can't quite seem to figure it out, but Patience has never once offered a buck for Mark. Walk, Trot, and Canter she has always been an angel for him. Once she figured out to move forward and to give to pressure easily, she has just become very soft. Mark doesn't even lunge or warm up before riding. He grooms her, tacks her up and off they go.

You would be so proud of her Julie, she has become such a great Pony. Thanks again. :D

I have followed Patience's story from the beginning and seeing her so relaxed and happy just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I even named a petite dilute tortoiseshell cat I rescued Patience in her honour! I was very lucky to find a perfect home for her as well.
