Ace's Official Job: The Welcoming Committee

This striking 12 year old paint gelding was a bucking stock stallion for all of his life until a couple of days ago. He is now on the road to recovery and trust as he learns that not all humans are bad!

Ace's Official Job: The Welcoming Committee

Ace and I have been talking, ok, well, I've been doing all the talking, but after some recent insight, I have put forth a new plan for Ace. Since being a saddle horse is not in his future (unless he changes his mind), I wanted him to feel like he was part of the Serenity Training cycle. Instead of just sitting in the pasture, with nothing to do, I have implemented a new title. Ace is the Welcoming Committee.

So far, he has now welcomed two horses to and from Serenity Training. The first was Cassie, and today was Cabo. He acts like a big brother, giving them gentle reminders on proper manners, and tends to keep a look out for them. He's never mean or aggressive, yet always the obvious 'king'. :) He goes along for the ride when picking or dropping off other rescues.

I think he likes his job! Here he is today after loading up Cabo and then after unloading and resting in the pasture at home.

I think that is a wonderful job for Mr. Ace. It'll definately get him better in the trailer. Couldn't ask for a better candidate for the job!
