How's Ace?

This striking 12 year old paint gelding was a bucking stock stallion for all of his life until a couple of days ago. He is now on the road to recovery and trust as he learns that not all humans are bad!

Ace is doing really well. I have been struggling with wanting to do more with him, and just letting him be retired. The SAFE clinic last year was very hard for him, but also very much a breakthrough.

I have signed up to take Ace to a 4-day Colt Starting Clinic at the Mission Farrier School with Jon Ensign in a couple weeks. I am hopeful that this will be a great thing for Ace. If not, I'm ok with him not being a riding horse. At the very least, I will learn an incredible amount about how to start horses so that I can be more efficient, right?! :)

I'll keep everyone informed, but would sure love it if someone would accompany me and take pictures of Ace and I! :) Though I think there is an audit fee. :(

I have not seen Jon in person, but I have heard excellent reports about him from friends who have watched him and another friend who had a colt started by him in a clinic. My guess is that you will get a lot out of the clinic and will really enjoy it! Wish I could come watch but I will either still be at or just have returned from my Wyoming trip and will need some QT with my men at home.

I would love to go with you Julie. When is it? I will have to look to see how much for audit. I could use some good tips for starting young ones. Ally is getting close to the riding age and she has learned tons of bad manners from the other babies at the barn. It would also help me with Cassie too.
